The Sheriff has reported that a panga boat landed this morning in Portuguese Bend at approximately 5:45 am.  There is heavy law enforcement activity currently in the area on and around Palos Verdes Drive South between Peppertree Drive and Schooner Drive.  The public is advised to avoid the area and find alternative travel routes.

Dozens Arrested in Rancho Palos Verdes Panga Bust

 

RANCHO PALOS VERDES (KTLA) -- About 20 to 25 suspects were arrested after a panga boat was spotted off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes.

The 25-foot panga was spotted around 5:50 a.m. about 200 yards offshore near Portuguese Bend and the Terranea Resort.

The boat was believed to be carrying as many as 30 to 50 people.

KTLA's Sky5 was overhead as dozens of people were handcuffed right off Rancho Palos Verdes Drive South.

There was an ongoing search for the remaining people who were on the boat.

The panga boat was being taken to the U.S. Coast Guard facility in San Pedro.
