Pending Water Restrictions Regulations

Formatted HTML message

California Water Service Company (Cal Water) on April 29th officially released that the customers on the Palos Verdes Peninsula will have to mandatorily cut its water use by 36%.  This is the requirement that is being imposed by the California Water Resources Control Board.  The Board is taking public comment on their Proposed Emergency Regulations by 10:00 AM on May 4th at  commentletters@waterboards.ca.gov <mailto:commentletters@waterboards.ca.gov> —this includes objections to the 36% cut that Rolling Hills residents will have to make.  The letters can be addressed to each individual State Water Resources Control Board Member—Chair Felicia Marcus, Vice Chair Frances Spivy-Weber, Dorene D’Adamo, Steven Moore, and Tam Doduc.
To see the entire text of the Proposed Emergency Regulations and receive more information about how to provide public comment, please click here  or visit the City’s website at www.Rolling-Hills.org/index.aspx?nid=93

In order to attain the 36% reduction, Cal Water submitted a Water Shortage Contingency Plan to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Schedule 14.1 is proposed to be implemented on June 1st and includes its proposed water use restrictions, water budgets, enforcement measures and conservation programs.  To view Schedule 14.1 please click here.  To view the 4/29 Water Boards’ Notice  please click here. To learn more about these provisions or to voice your opposition about them, Cal Water is hosting a community meeting at its Torrance Office on Wednesday, March 13th at 6:00 pm.  The Cal Water office is located at 2632 W237th Street, Torrance CA  90505.

Once it is known how to appeal provisions of this Plan to the  CPUC, the City will make that known on the City’s website  at www.Rolling-Hills.org/index.aspx?nid=93
