On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, the City Council will have a special meeting regarding SB9 that was signed into law by Governor Newsom this fall. Under SB9, local governments and officials are prohibited from imposing objective zoning standards, objective subdivision standards, and objective design standards that would have the effect of physically precluding the construction of up to 2 units at least 800 square feet in floor area. SB9 allows lot splits and two-unit projects by right in single-family zones. This special council meeting will begin at 6pm.
